Solar Power is Coming to Your Neighborhood
Power Without the Panels on Your Roof
Community Distributed Generation (CDG), often called “Community Solar” is a powerful new tool that increases access to clean solar energy for millions of people previously unable to go green. Think of Community Solar as a way of going solar with nothing on your roof!
How It Works
SOLAR FARMS GENERATE POWER
Developers like Green Street build large solar “farms” capable of generating enough power for hundreds of homes.
ENERGY SENT TO THE GRID
The energy produced by the solar farm is sent to the electrical grid operated by your local utility company.
POWER ALLOCATED TO METERS
The power received from the farm is distributed among all of the meters of community solar subscribers.
RESIDENTS RECEIVE CREDIT
Residents who participate in the community solar program will purchase these credits at a discounted rate, then see them show up on their monthly bills.
